ISSUES

2d Amendment Rights:  America’s founders designed the Second Amendment as a key check against government overreach.  Citizens for a Just Government fully supports every citizen’s Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.  CFJG opposes all exclusions, restrictions, taxes, fees or other unconstitutional infringements on this basic legal prerogative.

Constitutional Integrity:  Ethical government contains structural checks and balances to prevent any one part from wielding too much power.  Citizens for a Just Government advocates adherence to original Constitutional principles and checks & balance-based government process to ensure a system that works for citizens instead of the other way around.

Fraud, Waste & AbuseIn its role as custodian of “other people’s money,” government is inherently susceptible to fraud, waste and abuse.  Ill-used revenues can become a self-perpetuating problem that will eventually grow government to unsustainable levels.  Tracking taxpayer money is a key part of Citizens for a Just Government’s ethical oversight mission.

Free Markets:   Citizens for a Just Government recognizes that free markets are the keystone of a healthy economy, and by extension a free and open democracy.  CFJG advocates for the least-fettered flow of goods, services and labor to maximize economic benefits across the board.  CFJG opposes crony capitalism and avenues of government interference that rig the free market by “picking winners and losers;” including over-regulation of legitimate business and commerce.

Government Overreach CFJG supports a government that imposes the least constraint on individual, entrepreneurial, and property rights freedoms.

Immigration:  An ethical government enforces all laws on the books.  Citizens for a Just Government opposes open border policies and supports local communities’ right to enforce immigration laws.

Justice System:  As final arbiters in a government based on laws, our justice system functions as the linchpin for larger ethical issues.  That process starts at the top, with judges.  Those who impose unfair, inequitable or excessive sentences or “legislate from the bench” risk impeding every citizen’s right to fair treatment under the law.  Further down the chain, a key part of judicial process is the broad discretion State Attorneys retain to investigate and prosecute criminal cases.  This can result in minor infractions being trumped up for political motives.  Equally problematic, prosecutors can wrongly exercise discretion and allow a select few to escape justice.  At ground level, police and jail authorities are central elements of community law & order that wield a great deal of power over individual citizens, including the use of deadly force.  CFJG monitors all justice system processes; from arresting authorities to judges; to ensure those institutions exercise power ethically and equally for every citizen.

Spending & DebtGovernment stewardship of tax dollars is a key ethical responsibility.  Taxes serve a basic government purpose by generating operating revenues.  But governments, by nature of their reliance on “other people’s money,” are inherently susceptible to overtaxing to expand themselves beyond what the citizens they represent need.  Citizens for a Just Government opposes any taxing above and beyond the minimum needed to support the least amount of government necessary.  Debt creates a burden hard-working citizens inevitably end up having to cover.  Citizens for a Just Government keeps a close eye on fiscal issues across the board to ensure taxpayers get maximum benefit from monies they contribute to spending authorities.

Media:   Media is supposed to work as a watchdog against government corruption and injustice.  But too often, media outlets are bought and paid for by the very people doing the stealing.  As part of our overall mission, Citizens for a Just Government will keep an eye on the media and make it a priority to call them out when they work against the greater public interest.
